Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Belt Promotion Guidelines:
-1. Advancement in Jiu Jitsu is based on technical knowledge, sparring ability, attitude, and dedication. Competition experience helps a student move forward more quickly, but is not required.
-2. Both eligibility and belt evaluations are conducted by Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Black Belts Enrique Chimeyo & John Lavin. If you have a question about what you need to be doing to achieve your next rank, please ask.
-3. Timeline of belt promotions is in line with IBJJF rules.
Q– Does your school have belt stripes? Are there belt striping ceremonies? How much do stripes cost?
A– Belt Striping Ceremonies are held in class every 8 weeks. There are no fees for belt stripes. If you are not sure when the next striping is being held, please ask.
Q– Does your school charge for belt testing?
A– Absolutely not. At Lavin Mixed Martial Arts we believe that Brazilian Jiu Jitsu rank is earned by the student, and should never cost any additional money. Belt Testing is always free.
Q– If I am transferring to your academy from another gym, will I be allowed to keep my current Jiu Jitsu rank, or will I have to “start over”?
A– Regardless of what gym you trained at previously, you earned your rank and are welcome to wear your current belt at our academy.
